•  Chappaquiddick Island - Senator Edward M. Kennedy drove his car off a bridge. He was on his way home from a party with aide Mary Jo Kopechne. His aide died in the incident.

•  The Moon - July 20, 1969, American Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon. At the moment Armstrong said, “That's one small step for man, one giant step for mankind.” 600 Million people viewed ‘ the step' on live TV.

•  Woodstock 69 - the rock concert of the century happened August 1969 on Max Yasgur's farm near Woodstock, NY. With the world in turmoil a good time concert was planned for 10 to 20 thousand fans. Over 400,000 people descended on Yasgur's farm for three days of sex, drugs, and rock & roll .

•  Manson Family - Charles Manson and The Family of followers murdered pregnant actress Sharon Tate and four of her friends.

* Tour de France Champion: Leon Scieur (Bel), 1888-1969,
TdF champion in 1921.

* World Road Race Champion: George Ronsse (Fra), 1906-1969, two time World Champion in 1928 and 1929.

Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1890-1969, the supreme allied commander during WW2, the General of the Army, and 34th President of the United States.

Sonja Henie, 1912-1969, three-time Olympic Gold Medallist in figure skating. She went on to a career as a movie actress. She died October 12, 1969 of Leukemia at the age of 57.
