Gerrie Knetemann
The 1978 World Road Race Championship was held in Adenau (Nürburgring), Germany. The race presented 274.8 km over 12 laps of a 22.9 km circuit.
Dutchman Gerrie Knetemann (Ned) led a 2 rider breakaway into the finish. Knetemann started the sprint as defending World Champion Francesco Moser powered past. The Dutchman found the strength in come back on Moser and in a photo finish Knetemann won by a millimeter.
