GIRARDENGO, 261 Km (Milan to Milan) 1921
Costante Girardengo, Giro di Lombardia champion in 1919, returned after missing the race in 1920.
A breakaway of 17 riders came into Milan's Sempione Velodrome to contest the sprint. Girardengo led-out the group and crossed the finish line first for his second Lombardia victory.
SPECIAL NOTE: With the 1921 Giro di Lombardia victory Costante Girardengo became the first rider to achieve the difficult Milan-San Remo (early season) / Lombardia (late season) double victory in the same year.
