Ronsse Sprints to Victory
The 15th edition of Liege-Bastogne-Liege was held on June 14, 1925.
Nineteen-year-old Belgian Georges Ronsse, a relatively unknown young rider, came to Liege in 1925 to prove his talent. Sixty-three riders were on the start list as the race rolled off from Liege.
On the return from Bastogne, two “Flandria” riders Gustave Van Slembroeck (Ostend) and Georges Ronsse (Antwerp) escaped the peloton.
The two-rider breakaway rolled into the finish with a substantial lead. Ronsse left no doubt about his talent by sprinting past Van Slembroeck for the L-B-L victory.
