Verschueren Continues Belgian Supremacy at Flanders
The 10th edition of Tour of Flanders raced 217 km from Gent to the velodrome in Gent (Citadelpark).
At the start in Gent confident French star Andre LeDucq came to take on the sprinters and rouleurs of the Belgian peloton. The race left the start at a pace that few could follow. LeDucq and 1924 Flanders champion Gerard Debaets struggled with both riders abandoning the race.
Gaston Rebry (Bel) led a 7 rider breakaway into the Citadelpark Velodrome in Gent. Battling through the pack Denis Verschueren out-sprinted Gustaaf van Slembroeck for the victory!
