1st Foreigner to Win Flanders
It was the spring of 1923 and the Tour of Flanders excitement was beginning to mount. The start list included the top riders from all over Europe.
Swiss rider Heiri Suter stole the spotlight when Belgian sprinter Charles Deruyter punctured in mid-sprint. Suter became the first foreign rider to win the prestigious Tour of Flanders.
SPECAIL NOTE: Heiri Suter became the first rider to score a Flanders/Paris-Roubaix Double in the same year.
