Franco BITOSSI
The 61st edition of the Giro di Lombardia was held on October 21, 1967.
The climb of the Ghisallo Pass thinned the peloton as a 22 rider group with Raymond Poulidor leading the way. Franco Bitossi (Filotex) caught and passed a solo Poulidor approaching the final climb of the San Fermo della Battaglia. Bitossi held a 2 minute lead on a hard charging group led by defending champion Felice Gimondi at the base of the climb.

In the closing kilometers Bitossi could see the rapidly closing chase group only a second behind. Into the velodrome finish an inspired Franco Bitossi used his finishing speed to take the 1967 Lombardia victory.
