Tom SIMPSON
The 59th edition of the Giro di Lombardia was held on October 16, 1965.
Great Britain’s Tommy Simpson came to Lombardia with unfinished business. He finished 10th (+1’49”) in 1963 and 21st (+8’50”) in 1964. After winning the World Road Championship a month earlier Simpson used his superior fitness to ride away from an elite 6-rider group to gain the Lombardia victory.
