Mario Ricci WIns Again
The 38th edition of the Giro di Lombardia was held on October 21, 1945. Italy was recovering from the devastation of World War 2 as Lombardia returned after a two year absences. The Italian ‘tifosi’ welcomed the return with open arms!!!
1941 Lombardia champion Marco Ricci broke away from an elite 8 rider group and rode into Milan to claim a 6’23” victory. Defending champion (1942) Aldo Bini was second and Gino Bartali finished third.
