78th Liege-Bastogne-Liege 1992 (Belgium)

La Doyenne Turns 100

In the 100 year history of Liege-Bastogne-Liege minor course changes have been common place. Two changes in 1992 were worthy of note:

1. The re-introduction of the famed Cote du Stockeu (home of the Merckx monument)

2. The more significant of the 2 was the finish line change to hilltop suburb of Liege in Ans

Dirk De Wolf (R) attacked Steven Rooks (C) and French champion Jean-Francois Bernard (L)

Belgian Dirk De Wolf attacked with Steven Rooks and French champion Jean-Francois Bernard. When the breakaway came into the new finish Ans Dirk De Wolf rolled away and won the 1992 L-B-L by 30 seconds.
