Liege-Bastogne-Liege 1965
A twelve rider rain soaked breakaway flew into Liege and the finish at Stade Velodrome de Rocourt. World Champion Jan Janssen (Pelforth-Sauvage-Lejeune) sprinted past Italian Vittorio Adorni at the enterance to the velodrome. Janssen slid out on the wet track taking down half the breakaway group. Adorni wobbled but managed to stay upright and led out the sprint with Janssen's teammate Carmine Preziosi on his wheel. After bumping in the final meters nearly took down both riders Preziosi crossed the finish line for the biggest victory of his career.
