Achiel Buysse Makes History
The 27th edition of Tour of Flanders raced 215 km from Gent to Gent (Kuipke Velodrome) over atrocious "War damaged" road conditions. Flanders champion in 1940 and 1941 Achiel Buysse made history in 1943 becoming the first three time champion.
Buysse entered the Kuipke Velodrome in Gent driving a hard pace with Albert Sercu and Camille Beeckman on his wheel. Achiel Buysse dominated the sprint and took the Flanders victory.
