Bonduel Survives Brutal Road Conditions
Cobbles, cobbles and more cobbles… The 92 riders who started in 1930 were met with terrible road conditions. The route featured an increased number of cobbled sections that were merely narrow "farm paths". One additional climb was added the Kerselareberg in Edelare brought the total number of climbs to 4.
Strong rouleur and sprinter Frans Bonduel, two-time winner of Paris-Brussels, rode smoothly through the cobbled sections to gain the prestigious Tour of Flanders victory.
SPECIAL NOTE: The 1930 edition of Flanders added a 4th hill, the first ascent of the Kerselareberg. (Total bergs 4)
