Big Victory for Mertens
Talented Belgian Jan Mertens, a 1927 stage winner in the Tour of Belgium, held off August Mortelmans and Louis Delannoy for the biggest victory of his career.
SPECIAL NOTE: The 1928 edition of Tour of Flanders included the first ascent of the Kruisberg. (Total bergs 3)
SPECIAL NOTE: For the first time Flanders organizers eliminated the velodrome finishes in favor of the streets of Wetteren (City southeast of Gent).
