Great Men, Great Words:
Eddy Merckx
“There are too many factors you have to take into account that you have no control over...The most important factor you can keep in your own hands is yourself. I always placed the greatest emphasis on that.”
When he learned of the memorial erected at the top of the Stockeau climb to honor his L-B-L exploits: “I thought that memorials were for dead people”
The Most Famous Campionissimo of ALL
The most famous of all Campionissimo is without doubt Fausto Coppi. His racing exploits are legendary. His ongoing rivalry with Gino Bartali fuelled intense passion throughout Italy. He was the last great Italian rider to gain the title.
