Race Summary:
Stage 10: A maturing Swiss star Alex Zulle (ONCE) rode brilliantly and took the Maillot Amarillo on the 46.5 km Individual Time Trial.

Zulle ITT Stage 10
Stage 13: Grand Spanish champion Miguel Indurain, who finished second in the 1991 Vuelta, came to take one last chance at a Spanish victory. Sadly, on the thirteenth stage’s climb of the Covadonga Indurain, sick and exhausted by bronchitis, came to a stop and abandoned the race. He was in 3rd place at the time. The abandonment ended his brilliant professional racing career.
Stage 22: Lotus-Festina’s Laurent Dufaux took on Zulle’s entire ONCE team and attacked relentlessly through the closing stages. Unfazed by Dufaux attacks Zulle was able to answer every move. Alex Zulle rode into the finish in Madrid for his first Vuelta a Espana victory.

Suisse Podium: 3rd Rominger (L), Zulle (C), 2nd Dufaux (R)
