Unknown Swiss Sprinter Wins a Spring Double
Swiss rider Heiri Suter was emerging from the shadow of popular champion Oscar Egg. One week earlier Suter scored a victory in the prestigious Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) and came to Paris-Roubaix full of confidence. True to form Henri Pelissier attacked on the Doullens Hill. The elite 6 rider breakaway did not include Suter. By Arras 25 miles later Suter's chase group had regained the lead breakaway. On Roubaix's Avenue des Villas Henri Suter executed a brilliant sprint to complete the Flanders/P-R double.
