**Tour de France Question Stage 17**

What was the name of the first American Team to compete in the Tour de France?

Answer:

Team 7-11

The 1980's marked the arrival of new TdF championship contenders from English speaking countries. Australian Phil Anderson led the list, and the TdF's popularity began to spread to new countries around the world. In 1986, the American 7-11 team became first professional cycling team from the USA to qualify for the Tour.
