**Tour de France Question Stage 14**

Tour History: If Floyd Landis wins the TdF this year without a stage win he will gone a select group of TdF champions.

Who are the 6 Champions who have won the TdF without a stage win?

Answer:

1990 Greg LeMond(USA) was not in top form and a bit over weight but rode a great tactical race. He rode just hard enough to out time trial Claudio Chiappucci late in the Tour.

1966 Lucien Aimar (Fra) got away with a small break while everyone was watching teammate Jacques Anquetil. The breakaway gained a 14 minute gap. Aimar held on for the victory.

1960 Gastone Nencini (Ita) made the crucial breakaway and gain enough time to take the victory.

1956 Roger Walkowiak (Fra) was a little known French rider in a Tour skipped by the big stars. He work very hard to join a breakaway on stage 7. The breakaway gain over 18 minutes on the race favorite. Through the mountains Walkowiak held onto a 1'25" lead to gain the victory.

1922 Firmir Lambot (Bel) gained the victory after Race Leader Hector Heusghem was given a 1 hour time penalty for an illegal bike change.

1904 Henri Cornet (Fra) finished the Tour in 5th place, but after the French Federation disqualified the first 4 riders for cheating and dirty tricks, Cornet was awarded the victory without a stage win.
