Nashua Criterium August 9,1992 Masters 45+
This was not a day for the faint of heart. There were those
who couldn't miss the last day of the Olympics and those who went
to a conflicting criterium but those who lined up for this race
were nobly dubbed stout-of-heart. Although the soaking rains had
slowed by the time the race started the cold and damp remained.
Barry Boyce, NEMRT's only racer tried alone to dominate the field.
The early pace was slow with few attacks until the preme bell
started ringing and put some zip into the race. The Bullet fire
on all the early premes posting his name prominately on the announcer's
winner list. After the third preme Barry looked back to see the
field fading and attacked. "I remember think this is too
early to go solo but if the opportunity is there you've got to
take it" said Barry after the race. The next few laps saw
the lead steadily increase until the field was out of sight and
seemed to lose interest in chasing. With seven laps to go someone
yelled "your 31 second from lapping the field". Never
having had that chance before Barry kicked it up a notch and went
after the field. It took the Bullet two more laps to catch the
field and with the victory assured Barry kept a smooth pace to
the end towing the pack the last few laps. "This was one
of those days that everything went right. The Bullet got fired
early AGAIN!?!" added a tried Bullet.
