MARLBORO ROAD RACE AUGUST 21,1993 Masters 45+
NEMRT remains hot in August. Marlboro would mark the return
of NEMRT strongman Bill Sifleet. Bill, known for great racing
at Marlboro, would lend his efforts to the successes of the day.
Henry Wilmer riding an early pace that sapped the strength of
the field launched Bill Sifleet to the halfway mountain preme.
With three lap remaining Bill and Henry attacked the hill and
slipped away from a tiring field. Bill Hartwell riding a very
strong race was keeping Earl in check all day long, and Derek
strong effort at the front of the field gave the duo a chance
for victory. Bill, feeling the effects of a short racing schedule,
struggled on the hill with two laps to go. The field still charging
Henry had to leave Bill and go for the victory solo. Not only
did Henry solo to victory but he put another minute between he
and the field for an impressive 2 minute victory. Bill Hartwell,
locked in fearsome combat all day with Earl Page, staged an awesome,
uphill sprint only to be nipped by Earl at the line. Derek was
a very close 4th. Bill Sifleet finished a very respectful 6th.
