District Road Race June 9, 1991 Masters 35
NEMRT again captured the gold medal with the victory at the District
Road Race Championship, held at Jiminy Peak. The pack stayed
together throughout the three 18 mile loops until the final climb.
Peter Moss ('90 winner) lead the charge with Cliff Keeney and
Mark Hagen securely in tow. Toward the top of the finishing climb
Cliff and Mark came around the tiring Moss and headed to the finish
line. Keeney couldn't answer Hagen's final surge and NEMRT had
back to back victories. The tired Peter found reserves and finished
3rd to take the bronze medal.
Masters Women
Showing tremendous strength Kathy Swanson emerged as the 1991
Masters Women Champion. All the women (senior and masters) rode
the three lap course as one pack. The finish was much like the
other races- strung out at the top of the hill. Kathy used her
power to finish first and capture the gold.
