MYLES STANDISH Road Race April 24,1984
VeteransOn a brilliant, sunny day in April, NEMRT rallied the troops and took command of the race early. Mauricio Puente, Doug Foy, Marshall Randolf, and Barry Boyce challenged the best veterans in New England. The large pack would stay together most of the race after playing attack and chase several time during the process. The sprint set up over a short climb, down a hill and across a narrow bridge. Barry caught the wheel of Doug Stewart (Berkshire Velo) and Bill Guazzo for the final 200 meters. Flying across the narrow bridge Barry started to come around only to have Bill Guazzo shut the door and push Barry toward the edge. At the line it was Guazzo by a wheel, with Stewart 2nd and Barry coming in third. Also in the money for NEMRT was Marshal Randolf in 5th.
1. Bill Guazzo, Unattached
2. Doug Stewart, Berkshire Velo
3. Barry Boyce, NEMRT
