Derek Williams was a "born to be" member of the hall of fame. He is well known for his long femurs and great lung capacity, the envy of all cyclists. Derek provided NEMRT with some of the most exciting races in club history. He is one of the most talented master cyclists ever to come out of New England. The unassuming Williams has amassed a total of 19+ victories (we might have missed a few), most coming in "big" races against the top competition. These accomplishments all came on a part time basis. The list only begins with five District Championship titles, two Killington Stage Race wins and a bronze medal at the 1987 National Time Trial Championships. Not only is Derek admired by his fellow competitors for his great athletic ability but also he is admired for being one of the truly "good guys" of our sport.
