Roger de Vlaeminck (Bel)

Born: August 24, 1947, Eeklo, Belgium

Professional: from 1969 to 1988

Roger De Vlaeminck had a win in one of the nine “Orthodox” Classics each year for ten years. De Vlaeminck was known as Mr Paris-Roubaix after winning the race a record four times (1972,74,75,77), finishing second four times (1970, 78, 79, 81) and finishing third once (1976). He won Milan-San Remo three times (1973, 78, 79) and Giro di Lombardia twice (1974, 76). He was one of three Belgian riders to win all of the 5 Monuments of Cycling (Merckx and Van Looy were the others). Belgian Roger De Vlaeminck was the greatest Classics rider of his generation.
