Johan Museeuw (Bel)
Born: October 13, 1965, Varsenare, Belgium
Professional: from 1988 to present
Johan Museeuw possessed all the best qualities of the great Flemish riders that preceded him. Combining power and determination on the bike with great handling skills, he has three wins at the cobbled “Hell of the North” Paris-Roubaix. He was the 1996 World Road Champion after Belgian team leader Eddy Merckx and his wife convinced him not to retire from cycling. Museeuw also mastered the Tour of Flanders, winning his second Monument in 1993, 1995, and 1998.
