27th Giro di Lombardia 1931 (Italy)

By Barry Boyce, CyclingRevealed Historian

Binda's Revenge

An aggressive Alfredo Binda left little doubt as he broke away solo to win the Race of the Falling Leaves but over 18 minutes. Binda gained revenge on Michele Mara who won the 1930 Giro di Lombardia.

Special Note: Alfredo Binda became the third rider to score a Milan-San Remo / Lombardia double. Costante Girardengo scored the double in 1921 and Michele Mara accomplished it in 1930.
