Anquetil Time Trials to Victory

Jacques Anquetil used the only stage 5 individual time trial (50.4 km from Parma to Baganzola Busseto) on stage 5 to capture the stage win and a time gain of 2’38” over Italo Zilioli.  The Frenchman took the race leader and never surrendered it. 

Anquetil matched Zilioli losing only seconds and rode into Milan to win the 1964 Giro d’Italia by 1’22” over Zilioli.
