The Greatest Campionissimo of ALL
The greatest Campionissimo (Champion of Champions) is Eddy Merckx. His achievements in major races are far beyond any other rider. Although not officially given the title, the individual list of Campionissimos starts here:

When he learned of the memorial erected at the top of the Stockeau climb to honor his L-B-L exploits: “I thought that memorials were for dead people”

The Most Famous Campionissimo of ALL
The most famous of all Campionissimo is without doubt Fausto Coppi. His racing exploits are legendary. His ongoing rivalry with Gino Bartali fuelled intense passion throughout Italy.  He was the last great Italian rider to gain the title.
